Informal Employment In Formal Sector

Characteristics taken into account of employment in the formal sector are employment in registered or unregistered establishment with a workforce of 10 people or more. The employees have contract agreement and obtain retirement benefits / social security, annual leave and paid medical leave. Cut off of 10 workers are based on Human Resources Development Act, 2001 which authorizes employers employing less than 10 people for 3 consecutive months to cancel their registration with the corporation and are exempted from paying levy. Informal employments in the formal sector are family workers and other paid employees who work in the formal sector. Family workers refer to contributions that are not clear; there is no contract agreement as well as retirement benefits / social security etc. While other paid employees refer to paid workers but not subject to or have no contract agreement, retirement benefits / social security etc.
