This publication presents statistics on the Accommodation services which obtained from the Economic Census 2023 for reference year 2022. Accommodation services comprises Hotels (including resort hotels) & apartment hotels, Budget hotels, Chalets, and Rest house/ guest house, bed & breakfast units, hostels, home stay, camping grounds & other accommodation.

Overall,  the  principal  statistics  of  Accommodation  services  in 2022  showed a  positive  annual  growth  rate as  compared to 2015. In  2022,  the  number  of  establishments  operating  in this  services  was  14,962,  which  registered  an  annual  growth  rate  of  19.2  per cent compared to 4,377 establishments in 2015. The value of gross output in 2022 amounted to RM16.7 billion (2015: RM13.9 billion) with an annual growth rate of 2.6 per cent. Concurrently, intermediate input also increased to RM7.3 billion, recording an annual growth rate of 2.7 per cent. This resulted in a value added of RM9.4 billion in 2022 (2015: RM7.9 billion).

The  number  of  persons  engaged  for  Accommodation  services  was  157,549  persons  for  compared to 130,675 persons in 2015, showing an annual growth rate of 2.7 per cent. In line with the increment, total salaries & wages grew by 4.4 per cent to RM4.1 billion (2015: RM3.0 billion). Meanwhile, value of fixed assets owned by establishments for Accommodation services amounted to RM37.0 billion in 2022 (2015: RM33.0 billion) with an annual growth rate of 1.6 per cent.
