EXPORT IMPORT STATISTICS BY STATE, DECEMBER 2024
Total trade for eight states recorded a positive growth with a value of RM205.6 billion in December 2024
- Malaysia’s total trade for December 2024 amounted to RM257.9 billion with exports and imports recorded RM138.5 billion and RM119.3 billion, respectively.
- Exports was valued at RM138.5 billion in December 2024, increased RM20.1 billion (+16.9%) as compared to the same month of the previous year. The increase in exports was attributed to the higher exports in most states such as Pulau Pinang (+RM15.4 billion), Johor (+RM4.7 billion), Selangor (+RM1.9 billion), Sabah (+RM1.3 billion), Perak (+RM1.1 billion), Melaka (+RM416.7 million), Kelantan (+RM18.5 million) and Perlis (+RM7.1 million). However, exports decreased in Kedah by RM1.6 billion, W.P. Kuala Lumpur (-RM1.5 billion), Sarawak (-RM819.5 million), Negeri Sembilan (-RM415.5 million), Pahang (-RM342.1 million), W.P. Labuan (-RM30.0 million) and Terengganu (-RM15.1 million).
- Pulau Pinang remained as the top exporter with 38.0 per cent share, followed by Johor (18.1%), Selangor (16.2%), Sarawak (7.4%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (3.7%).
- At the same time, imports in December 2024 increased RM12.7 billion (+11.9%) as compared to the same month in year 2023. The increase in imports was attributed by the higher imports in most states such as Selangor (+RM5.9 billion), Pulau Pinang (+RM3.9 billion), Johor (+RM1.3 billion), Kedah (+RM1.1 billion), Perak (+RM704.5 million), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (+RM590.1 million), Sarawak (+RM558.8 million), W.P. Labuan (+RM237.3 million), Sabah (+RM69.5 million), Melaka (+RM54.9 million) and Perlis (+RM32.3 million). However, imports decreased in Negeri Sembilan by RM1.3 billion, Pahang (-RM393.4 million), Terengganu (-RM139.7 million) and Kelantan (-RM115.9 million).
- Selangor dominates Malaysia’s imports with a share of 28.4 per cent, followed by Pulau Pinang (22.9%), Johor (20.6%), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (7.5%) and Kedah (5.9%).
