HIGHLIGHTS

The Distributive Trade sector increased further to 7.3 per cent in the fourth quarter 2014. This increase was propelled by Retail Trade sub-sector (11.0%), Motor Vehicles (7.3%) and  Wholesale Trade (4.8%).

On a quarterly basis, sales value showed an increase of 1.6 per cent from RM240.3 billion to RM244.1 billion.

Total number of persons engaged in this sector was 1.6 million persons with an increase of 1.8 per cent or 28,371 persons as compared to the same quarter of the previous year.Quarter-on-quarter, the number of persons engaged rose by 0.6 per cent or 9,894 persons.
