In the third quarter of 2024, the total revenue of the Services sector recorded RM618.5 billion, registering a positive growth of 5.9 per cent as compared to the same quarter in 2023. The increase was driven by Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage, and Accommodation segment, which collectively contributed RM469.5 billion, increased 5.1 per cent. On a quarterly basis, total revenue registered a growth of 1.9 per cent.

The total number of persons engaged in the Services sector amounted to 4.5 million persons, an increase of 1.7 per cent against the corresponding period of the previous year. For quarterly comparison, the number of persons engaged rose 0.6 per cent.

In the third quarter of 2024, salaries & wages registered a year-on-year growth of 3.8 per cent, totaling RM32.9 billion. On a quarterly basis, an increase of 1.2 per cent was observed.
