VOLUME INDEX OF SERVICES THIRD QUARTER 2023

Volume Index of Services increased 4.4 per cent in the third quarter of 2023 to record 146.7 points compared to 140.5 points in the same quarter last year. This increase was driven by Wholesale & Retail Trade, Food & Beverages and Accommodation segment which grew 5.1 per cent, followed by Business Services and Finance segment (0.2%), Information & Communication and Transportation & Storage segment (6.9%) and Other Services segment (8.7%).


For quarter-on-quarter comparison, volume index of Services grew 2.8 per cent to record 146.7 points compared to 142.6 points in the second quarter 2023. This performance was mainly contributed by the increase in Wholesale & Retail Trade, Food & Beverages and Accommodation segment (2.4%), followed by Business Services and Finance segment (5.5%), Information & Communication and Transportation & Storage segment (1.2%), and Other Services segment (1.5%). 


Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted volume index for this sector went up 0.7 per cent to stand at 139.9 points in the third quarter of 2023.
